Come eat and shop in our historic downtown, walk along South Main Street and take in the beautiful homes built more than 100 years ago by the bourbon barons who once lived here, tour Bauer’s Candies and see how the Modjeska is made, or visit the Healing Field to see the 119 American flags flying in honor of Kentuckians who’ve died in the War on Terror.

Bourbon & Beyond
Lawrenceburg is the proud home to Wild Turkey, Four Roses and the Lawrenceburg Bourbon Company bourbon distilleries. Our ties to this famed brown spirit history goes way, way back to the original bourbon barons and baronesses of the bourbon industry. Names like Ripy, Frazier, McBrayer, Bond, Hoffman and Dowling were the progenitors of world-famous brands Wild Turkey, Four Roses, Waterfill & Frazier, Mary Dowling, Hoffman Brothers and they all came from Anderson County, Kentucky.
Exciting news for all bourbon lovers, the craft of distilling continues with two new distilleries being added to our line-up in 2023: The Lawrenceburg Bourbon Company and Old Commonwealth Distillers.

Outdoor Adventures
Anderson County, situated in the famed Bluegrass Region and is one of the most picturesque places to wander through in a boat, on a bike or out on a joy ride with the top down. Motorcyclists can tour the county and travel from historic battlegrounds to the best burgers in town. Hunting enthusiasts with an eye on wild turkey and deer are sure to land a trophy at Salt River Outfitters. And speaking of bragging rights, the most daring adventurer can test their wits bungee jumping from at 240 foot cantilever-style bridge into the Kentucky River below at Vertigo Bungee.
Haunts & Haints
Scandinavia has the Kraken; Ireland has the banshee; Scotland has the Loch Ness Monster; Lawrenceburg has Bigfoot. Yes, you heard right. Anderson County is reported to have more Bigfoot sightings than any other Kentucky county. You can even sight the beast at the annual Wildman Days Festival.
A walk down the town’s Main Street seems a peaceful enough activity, with the charming shops and cozy restaurants. But one structure is anything but charming and cozy. The Anderson Hotel hasn’t checked in a guest since 1987 when it closed its doors permanently. But if no one has checked in, many have failed to check out. These lingering spirits is why the Anderson Hotel is one of the most investigated haunted places in America.
