Bourbon Sessions with John P. “Jack” Pogue, Jr. with Old Pogue Distillery

November 20, 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

John P. “Jack” Pogue, Jr., a sixth-generation member of the Pogue family and a key figure at The Old Pogue Distillery, will be sharing his expertise in an upcoming presentation. After a successful career in sales and business ownership, Jack shifted his focus to the family distillery, where he is known for his engaging storytelling, quick wit, and deep knowledge of Kentucky’s bourbon heritage. His talks highlight the origins of The Old Pogue Distillery, the family’s contributions to the development of Kentucky bourbon, and insights into the industry’s evolution.

The Old Pogue Distillery traces its beginnings to 1876, when H.E. Pogue took over operations from noted distiller O.H.P. Thomas and quickly became known for producing some of the most sought-after whiskies of the era. Pogue whiskey even appeared in Charles M. Russell’s 1909 painting In Without Knocking. Though Prohibition halted nearly 50 years of production, the fifth and sixth generations brought the distillery back to life in 2004, returning to the original mash bills and reestablishing operations at the restored Pogue family homestead in Maysville in 2009.

This event will feature light appetizers and a tasting. For reservations or additional information, please contact Millie at 502-680-0948.
