Holiday Cocktail from Mary Dowling Bourbon

Mary Dowling was a maverick and pioneer in the early days of Anderson County Bourbon making. Her story inspired a whole brand and that label has poured out (see what we did there?) some tremendous small batch bourbons. The newest release is a smooth, grain-forward Winter Wheat and makes the perfect base for a Whiskey Sour.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz MD Winter Wheat
  • 3/4 oz lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • Angostura bitters
  • Egg white (optional)

Garnish:

Lemon peel and angostura bitters

Instructions

  1. Add bourbon, lemon juice, and simple syrup to a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake and then strain in to a
rocks glass over fresh ice, or into
a coupe without ice.
  3. Garnish with 3-4 drops of Angostura bitters and lemon peel.
