The Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) of Kentucky will be holding their annual Kentucky District Blast Rally in Lawrenceburg Aug. 19-21, which will include a kickoff event at the Lawrenceburg Green on the opening night that is open to the public.
On Thursday, Aug. 19, at the Lawrenceburg Green, the band Puncheon Creek will be performing from 7-9 p.m. The Chuck Diesel food truck and the Captain Frank’s Hotdog Emporium food truck will be set up there from 6-9 p.m., as well as the downtown ice cream shop Caroline’s Creamery.
The GWRRA group is made up of Honda Gold Wing owners from throughout Kentucky. Their District Blast in Lawrenceburg will include members from Kentucky, as well as members of chapters from other nearby states. They will hold events Friday and Saturday at the American Legion grounds, as well as rides in and around the Lawrenceburg area.
A light parade of Gold Wing motorcycles will ride through Lawrenceburg on Friday night, August 20th. The parade will start at 9:45 p.m. and leave from the American Legion on a route taking them through downtown.
The group selects a new host city for the District Blast every 3-4 years. Kendall Clinton, executive director of the Lawrenceburg-Anderson County Tourism Commission, made a presentation to the group in early 2019, proposing that they choose Lawrenceburg as their new host city, which they did and announced during their 2019 District Blast in Cave City. Their first District Blast in Lawrenceburg was scheduled for August 2020, but it was cancelled amid concerns about Covid and rescheduled for Aug. 19-21, 2021.
The District Blast in Lawrenceburg will be held at the American Legion grounds. KY GWRRA invites all motorcyclists to join them. You can register onsite for the rally on Friday, Aug. 20th from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 21 from 8 a.m.-2p.m.
