Lawrenceburg to celebrate bicentennial in September 2020

Plans are currently being made for celebrations in September 2020 to commemorate Lawrenceburg’s 200th birthday.
The bicentennial events will be held primarily downtown on Friday, Sept. 11 and Saturday, Sept. 12. Current plans are to incorporate the  inaugural 2019 Stave Fest into a larger event for 2020.
Committees of volunteers are already working on ideas and plans for the bicentennial.
Lawrenceburg was incorporated as the town of Lawrence in 1820, but renamed as Lawrenceburg in 1827. It is named after naval officer James Lawrence, known for his last words “Don’t give up the ship!”
More details about Lawrenceburg’s bicentennial will be released throughout 2020.
