Downtown Halloween/fall window paintings now on display

For the second year in a row, young artists converged on downtown Lawrenceburg and transformed almost 30 windows into festive fall and Halloween scenes that add to the autumn atmosphere.

More than 50 middle and high school students, working in group sizes ranging from one through four, participated in the window painting project, which was coordinated by the tourism office in partnership with the Anderson County Arts Council and downtown building and business owners who allowed painting on their windows.

The scenes – which range from pretty pumpkins to spooky spiders – were judged by members of the arts council, who choose first and second place winners in the middle and high school categories, along with naming honorable mention participants.

The 2021 winners include:

Middle School

1st place – Ireland Tatum (window #11 at Bourbon Brick House)

2nd place – Evan Durham and Catelynn Webb (window #19 at Caroline’s Creamery)

Honorable mention – Garrison Glasscock and Jacey Lyddane (window #23 at Old Louisville Store)

High School

1st place – Caroline Troxell and Will Owens (window #21 at Old Louisville store)

2nd place  – Kadilyn Garrett (window #7 next to Nanric building)

Honorable mention – Isabella Kinder (window #29 at County Clerk’s office)

The finished works will remains up through Oct. 31 and will complement the Anderson County Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular on the steps of the courthouse, which will be on display beginning Monday, Oct. 25. The window paintings and the jack-o-lanterns add to the events held downtown during October, including the Lawrenceburg Ghost Walk (Oct. 22, 23, 29, and 30) and Adult Trick or Treat (Friday, Oct. 29).
