2020 Art Trail going virtual

Our dedicated community waits all year to enjoy and purchase the incredible works of art from the very homes, studios, and personal galleries of the local artists who are members of the Anderson County Arts Council each November. This year would have marked the 11th annual Open Studio & Art Trail.

For the first time in arts council history, the public will not be able to flock to the open studios, but they can attend the 2020 Art Trail live “virtually” at https://www.eventeny.com/events/art-trail-2020-770/  on Saturday, Nov 7, and continue through the entire month of November.  This virtual art show is truly for everyone and has become more inclusive than ever, expanding to artists who otherwise may have not participated in the Art Trail’s before.

Art patrons will be able to look at artists’ photos, watch personalized videos, start following new artists, visit virtual booths for items for sale, and participate in live video chats with some artists face-to-face! (Zoom Happy Hour hosted by Matthew & Karine Maynard starts at 4:15 pm)

While many artists are returning and you may have fond memories of  visiting them every year: Marianne Brown Pottery, Metal Artists Matthew and Karine Maynard of Maynard Studios, Chad Balster Glass, musicians Shannon & Tom Turino, Josephine Sculpture Park, etc… others are new to our scene: For example, both Four Roses and the Bluegrass Community Arts Center of Danville provided pre-recorded videos to share. With the help of the Anderson County Library, new videos have also been made for the events, featuring artists which include oil portrait painter Robert Cloyd for example, who had a lot of good stories and advice for those just starting out. In another video Marianne Brown talks about her ‘Seconds Sale’ which happens at each year’s Open Studio/ Art Trail Event (and which this year, you’ll find here online). Josephine Sculpture Park is debuting their newest video on residencies and internships at Kentucky’s only open to the public sculpture park at noon Saturday, November 7.

The Arts Council will also be selling beautiful prints that local photographer artist members took during Dahlia Days this past September at Carbajal’s Nursery and the Art’s Council had printed on satin cloth. You may remember these prints on display in business windows in downtown Lawrenceburg and already have a favorite. They will be selling for $40 each.

All videos go live on Saturday, November 7 and are accessible for the entire month of November.
