Boots and Bourbon bringing three Nashville songwriters to Lawrenceburg

Want to meet those behind the scenes who write some of the favorite songs you like by Trace Adkins, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and more?
Come to Lawrenceburg to Boots and Bourbon Under the Stars, A Nashville Songwriter’s Event: The Songs & Their Stories on Saturday, Oct. 24 and you can.
This is the second year for Boots and Bourbon and the event has grown from featuring two Nashville songwriters to three. This year’s lineup includes Grammy award nominees Wendell Mobley, Paul Overstreet and Lee Thomas Miller.
Miller is a three time Grammy nominee and has been awarded multiple Song of the Year awards at the CMA, ACM and NSAI Awards. In 2003 he was awarded Music Row Magazine’s “Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year” award in 2015 he was awarded BMA’s Inaugural Champion’s Award. He has written songs for artists including Trace Adkins, Brad Paisley and Jamey Johnson. Some of his best known hits include Whiskey and You, The Impossible and You’re Gonna Miss This.

Mobley played guitar for Jack Green and the group Alabama before making songwriting a full-time career. He has received Grammy and ACM award nominations, as well as multiple ASCAP Song of the Year wins. He has written songs for Rascall Flatts, Kenny Chesney and Randy Houser. He has seen more than 10 records hit number one. Songs he has written that you’ll recognize include There Goes My Life, A Little More Summertime and Take Me There.


Overstreet has written and co-written 27 top 10 songs for artists such as Randy Travis, Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood. As an artist himself, he has recorded many songs including Seein’ My Father in Me. He has been nominated for numerous awards, including (but not limited to) BMI Songwriter of the Year, Grammy award for best country song and ACM and CMA awards for Song of the Year. In 2019 he was the first songwriter inducted into the Mississippi Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.


Boots and Bourbon will be held Saturday, Oct. 24 from 6-11 p.m. at the Barn at McCall Springs, located on U.S. 127, just south of the Bluegrass Parkway.
