Rising country star JD Shelburne, a native of Taylorsville, will appear in Lawrenceburg this summer for a free concert.
On Saturday, July 11, JD will perform at the Lawrenceburg Green, located at 44 Western Avenue in downtown Lawrenceburg. This will be his second concert in Lawrenceburg, having performed here once before back in May of 2017.
Shelburne is currently the ambassador for the Kentucky Department of Tourism’s “Year in Music” campaign. In January, they unveiled the latest state visitors guide, with Shelburne adorning the front and back covers.
At the age of 19, JD picked up a guitar and began learning how to play and sing. He began performing at gigs in Lexington while he was a sophomore attending the University of Kentucky. It wasn’t long before he built up a fan base and started sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the music industry.
JD has played venues including Rupp Arena, the KFC Yum Center in Louisville, the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and many other popular locations.
“Anderson County’s former jailer, Joani Clark, worked hard to get JD here in 2017 and now another local resident, Cindy Beiter, decided it was time to have JD back again and has worked hard to set up this second concert,” said Kendall Clinton, executive director of the Lawrenceburg/Anderson County Tourism Commission. “Several music-related events are being planned for the Lawrenceburg Green for this summer, with Bands in the Burg already announced for May 23, so getting JD here in July is just another feather in the cap for Lawrenceburg.”
Beiter has already received a sponsorship commitment from Chrysler of Lawrenceburg to help cover the cost of the concert and she is seeking additional sponsors. Any business or organization interested in learning more about being a sponsor can contact Beiter at 502-604-3460.
