On January 8, the Kentucky Department of Tourism unveiled their 2020 visitors guide proclaiming it the Year of Music in Kentucky.  The Bluegrass state’s diverse musical offerings will be highlighted throughout the year, all across Kentucky, and Lawrenceburg/Anderson County won’t be missing out.

There are many talented musicians locally, which is why the Lawrenceburg/Anderson County Tourism Commission is hosting “Bands in the Burg,” our own local musicians showcase on the Lawrenceburg Green, on Saturday, May 23.  This afternoon and evening event, which will help kick off the summer, is a free, family-friendly concert featuring 10 musical acts, all from Anderson County, along with food trucks, craft beer and other activities.

Owners and managers of multiple venues throughout the area that hire musicians will be invited to see the talent they might be interested in bringing to their own establishments. Representatives from the music industry will also be invited to come discover our diverse group of musicians.

“For the inaugural year of Bands in the Burg, we are featuring 10 different musicians and bands from Anderson County for a showcase of primarily original music that will highlight some of the great talent we have here,” said Kendall Clinton, executive director of the Lawrenceburg/Anderson County Tourism Commission. “This is a great chance to come see your favorite local bands or find a new favorite local band. It’s also a potential opportunity for our musicians to be discovered by folks who might be interested in hiring them to perform elsewhere or for an even better opportunity.”

To assure a great experience for bands and fans, a professional sound and light system will be set up and operated by an area production company.
